NEW BEACH CLUB UNVEILED AT THE COTTESLOE BEACH HOTEL
The Cottesloe Beach Hotel is set to unveil The Beach Club to the public for the first time on December 8th, 2012 as part of the revival of the iconic beachside hotel. Owner Peter Prendiville is breathing new life into the hotel, as part of a multi-million dollar redevelopment.
“We want to enhance Perth’s already enviable beachside lifestyle and culture, and give people something to be really proud of. The focus is to deliver quality food and beverage, friendly service and clever, contemporary design,” said Mr. Prendiville.
The Cottesloe Beach Hotel began life in 1905 as the Hotel Cottesloe and major renovations in 1937 saw the building take on the famous art deco characteristics that remain to this day. Set amongst the beautiful Norfolk Island pine trees, the historical building has been preserved and the new Beach Club is set revive and refresh the hotel.
Replacing the former beer garden, The Beach Club is a sophisticated space with intimate corners built for ease of conversation, relaxed lounge areas for long summer days and quality food and beverage offerings.
The theatre of the kitchen will come alive with a state of the art wood fired pizza oven, charcoal grill and rotisserie, which have been custom built by Zesti Ovens under the guidance of celebrated chef Russell Blaikie. The menu has been carefully cultivated to provide a variety of fresh and locally sourced produce.
Renowned interior designers, Hecker Guthrie, have introduced a playful sense of beach nostalgia into the courtyard with a subtle play on the colour palette of local rival surf clubs. The space is layered with retro furniture, lighting and art works produced by internationally regarded artist Drew Tyndall.
The bars have a strong geometric presence with graphic tiling and bold pendant lighting. Using different elevations, roof structures, gazebos, wall finishes and landscaping design the once concrete area is now a series of connecting and flowing spaces. Each space has been designed with thought to age group and social experience. Patrons will enjoy relaxing in the sunshine during the day, and a more sophisticated scene at night.
The Beach Club will open to the public on Saturday December 8, 2012.
